3 floors, 20 rooms, and 30,000 square feet.
Be transported into a 19th-century Victorian world inspired by Edgar Allan Poe.
Third Wheel Productions, an experiential production company, is thrilled to present the world premiere of Deep Into Darkness, an immersive theatrical experience chronicling the elusive last moments of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, at The Cultch from August 13 to 25.
Led by local creative duo Laura Carly Miller and Sydney Doberstein, Deep Into Darkness stands to be one of the summer’s most elaborate entertainment experiences where the audience will roam with characters through different worlds as they follow the author’s descent into his own tortured mind in a desperate search for his love, Lenore. Each room induces a darker dream from his past, while each experience – disguised as A Midsummer Night’s Dream – shows the raw emotions and thoughts from his classic writings like The Raven and A Tell-tale Heart. Through it all, he must come to terms with his own life.
“We wanted to bring a ground-breaking and multi-sensory artistic experience to Vancouver that could simultaneously challenge, provoke, and inspire people in a way that traditional theatre could not. ‘Deep Into Darkness’ achieves just that,” – Laura Miller.
Deep Into Darkness’ diverse cast includes Carmel Amit, Leah Beaudry, Allison Chang, Sarah Corrigan, Travis Fawcett, Tom Kirk, Adrian Neblett, Cyril Redillas, Michael David Simms, Bradley Stryker, Brendan Taylor, Eric Vincent, Andrea Ware, Nic Yee, as well as Miller and Doberstein, who are also co-writers, producers, and directors.
Artistic team includes Fraser Larock (Co-Producer/Co-Writer), Blaine Anderson (Co-Producer/Co-Writer), Jessica Fernandes (Creative Producer), Sean William (Sound Design), John R. Taylor (Production Design), Nicholas Harrison (Fight Choreography), and Stephen Atkins (Dramaturg)
