The good thing about the Vancouver Fringe Festival is that you don’t know what you’re going to get, at least most of the time. Although my main interest are the musicals, I also make it a point to see non-musicals, and so far it has not disappointed.
Pulsive Party‘s Lip Service turned out a pleasant surprise in the sense that it turned out to be a song and dance dialogue which makes me wonder why it wasn’t classified as a musical… because it is.
Full of wit, pull out surprises, and word play, Lip Service is performed by Ashley Whitehead and Natalie Tin Yin Gan, two larger than life vulvas tackling challenges and successes through song and dance, perfectly executed without going over vulgar. It’s funny, engaging, and a truly one of a kind show that makes one think how similar everyone are to vaginas.
Lip Service continues to play until September 16 at the Firehall Arts Centre, 280 East Cordova, Vancouver, as part of the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival
