Vancouver Fringe Feature: Die Hard: The Musical-ish

Return to Nakatomi Plaza on Christmas Eve, 1988, where New York cop, John McClane is on a mission to save his wife from German terrorists led by the impeccable Hans Gruber. This pop culture parody of the classic action film features big laughs, palpable tension, and your favourite eighties hits.

District 13, the same artists behind the successful Hunger Games: The Musical Trilogy (2015-2017) presents Die Hard: The Musical-ish.  A pop culture parody of John McTiernan’s action-packed film (which happens to be celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year).  Along with skewering the plot, character and themes from the original film, the musical is packed with upbeat eighties pop/rock songs with new creative lyrics. Unlike The Hunger Games, there are no plans to do the Die Hard sequels.

We know it is sometimes hard to get blue-collared men to come out to see a musical. Well, there is enough testosterone in Die Hard: The Musical-ish to make you pump your fist and rock out as you revel in its awesomeness. Yippee-Ki-Yay!

Written & directed by Mark Vandenberg with Musical Direction by Rick Colhoun, choreography by Paige Vassos, stage management by Emily Wilson, and featuring: Richard Meen, Matthew D. Simmons, Victor Mariano, CJ McGillivray, Amy Dauer, Ryan Scramstad, and Frano Marsic, Die Hard: The Musical-ish will play at Studio 1398 in Granville Island as part of the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival September 06 to 16.
