First and foremost, Zeppelin Was a Cover Band is not a musical, as was classified, so I have updated my previous post listing the show as such.
But that’s not to say it wasn’t entertaining, in fact, I was so immersed in lone performer Stefan Celidot’s recounting of Led Zeppelin’s origins and the back story on certain songs that turned out were plundered from early blues artists that I didn’t notice any musical numbers until about halfway through.
Filled with a lot of facts and trivia that will certainly hold the interest even for non-fans, Zeppelin Was a Cover Band feels a lot like a classroom lecture but in a way more entertaining fashion, thanks to Celidot’s seeming passion of the band and the documentary style back story explaining why they are considered a cover band (I’m not sure if I should air quote that).
The 32nd Vancouver Fringe Festival and its other 100+ shows continues until September 18, 2015.
