Broadway Across Canada and Local Productions for Vancouver’s 2015/ 16 Season

The 2015/ 16 Season of Broadway Across Canada Vancouver had been announced, lined up with 2 returning favorites and 2 others playing Canada for the first time.  The shows will be playing Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

The Lion King – June18 to July 15 2015

Once – November 17 to 22 2015

Dirty Dancing (The Classic Story on Stage) – January 12 to 17 2016

Mamma Mia – March 29 to April 03 2016

I’ve seen all these and am not too enthusiastic about this season, well maybe except for The Lion King which I would want to see again.

It seems local productions in Vancouver came up with a better line up, and while I am not promising to attend all of these, I thought it might be good to give a shout-out in my own little way.

So far, here are the notables from Vancouver’s leading theatre productions, The Arts Club Theatre, Royal City Musical Theatre, Fighting Chance Productions, and Theatre Under the Stars:

In the Heights – April 30 – June 07 2015 at the Stanley Theatre

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike  – I know it’s not a musical but still, I wouldn’t mind being able to attend this. – March 19 – April 19 2015 at the Stanley Theatre

Les Miserables – June 02-August 16 2015 at the Stanley Theatre

Godspell – June 18-August 01 2015 at the Granville Island Stage

My Fair Lady (Royal City Musical Theatre) – April 09-26 2015 at the Massey Theatre

Jesus Christ Superstar (Fighting Chance Productions) – August 06-23 2015 at the Waterfront Theatre

Hairspray and Oliver (Alternating evenings) – Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) Summer 2015 – dates to be announced at the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park

For sure there will be more locally produced shows from other productions and I am looking forward to them. In the meantime, I will need to plan my trips crossing the border for Seattle’s offerings.

One response to “Broadway Across Canada and Local Productions for Vancouver’s 2015/ 16 Season

  1. Seen them all except Vanya–had to review Lion King 4 times! Love Les Miz and wouldn’t mind revisiting My Fair Lady. Dirty Dancing is a loser. Mamma Mia is here every season, Once didn’t impress me at all. I did like In The Heights.
In any case enjoy whatever you see!
